Text 2622: A Smart Way to text DepEd
Subscribers of Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) can get updated
announcements and alerts from the Department of Education (DepEd) via
an upgraded SMS-based service.
Dubbed DETxt 2622, the service lets public school
faculty, staff, students, parents and the general public automatically
receive advisories such as announcements on test schedules, press
releases, holiday announcements, and cancellation of classes.
The service also allows subscribers to express their concerns and
inquiries to the education department using their mobile phones. Charge
per message received is P2.50. To subscribe, all you have to key in is
DEPED ON and send to 2622.
The public can also subscribe
to get announcements specific to groups, whether for parents, students
or teachers. To get group announcements, type DEPED <GROUP> <REGION>, <CITY/PROVINCE>, <NAME>, ON. For example, DEPED STUDENT 3, Bulacan, Judith Concepcion, ON. This command applies to the following group keywords: STUDENT, PARENT, and TEACHER.
Other groups and their keywords are as follows: Principal (PRINCIPAL), Superintendent (SUPT), Supervisor (SUPR), Employee (EMP), and Media (MEDIA). To download mechanics on how to subscribe to DepED DETxt service for the other groups, text DEPED <KEYWORD> HELP to 2622. For example, DEPED EMP HELP.
Subscribers who wish to download DepEd advisories without
subscribing to DepEd School Alerts can also get updated
information-on-demand by typing in DEPED NEWS and sending to 2622.
DepEd is also encouraging the public to send their comments and
concerns via the DETxt service. For those subscribed to the service who
wish to send feedback to DepEd, type DEPED FDBK <MESSAGE> and send to 2622. For example, DEPED FDBK GOOD WORK!
For those who are not subscribed to the service, feedback can be sent by keying in DEPED FDBK <NAME>, <MESSAGE> to 2622. Example: DEPED FDBK JUDITH CONCEPCION, GOOD WORK!
Smart and the Department of Education launched an
information-on-demand version of the DETxt service in August 2004 using
another 3 digit access code. Prior to that, the department was using a
regular 11-digit number.
