Smart Schools Program receives three citations at 2008 Philippine Quill Awards
The Smart Schools Program (SSP) was given one Award of Excellence and two Awards of Merit at the 2008 Philippine Quill Awards, an annual event conducted by the International Association of Business Communicators-Philippines (IABC) that honors the most outstanding achievements in Communication Management, Communication Skills, and Creatives.
The SSP website (www.smartschools.ph) was given the Award of Excellence (under the Electronic/Digital Communications Management Category) for its strategic communications management using web-based tools. The Awards of Merit were given to the Smart Schools Program-Doon Po Sa Amin initiative (under Multi-Audience Communication Category) and to the Doon Po Sa Amin Ad Series (under Advertising/Conventional Media Category).
From October 2007 to end-October 2008, the website has published almost 400 various articles ranging from news, features, and Smart Tools. Most of the features are contributed by students and teachers. During the same period, the website launched fifteen online gimmicks to stimulate local content generation and website readership as preparation to the Doon Po Sa Amin Project. The gimmicks drew around 1,143 participants (teachers and students) from various partner schools. Based on Google Analytics data, the SSP website attracted 192,913 visits from 184 countries and 457,853 page views for a similar period from October 2007 to end-October 2008.
The Smart Schools Program acknowledges its partners (Philippine Business for Social Progress, Learn.ph, and SWEEP) and member schools for being a part of SSP’s achievements in establishing a dynamic online community of educators and learners. With continuous support, the Smart Schools Program is confident that SSP partner schools will be more involved in moving beyond consumers of content to being creators of local content.
