SSP Website of the Month (August): Orion National High School
Community Choice Awardee: D. Hortencia S. Benedicto National High School
The mission of Orion National High School (ONHS) is “to improve the quality of secondary graduates in terms of communicative competence, computational skills, critical thinking, self reliance and value discernment.”
In its website, ONHS teachers and students showed their technology and communication skills, making their school stand out in the Smart Schools Program (SSP) Website of the Month Competition. The ONHS website is the best school website for the month of August.
Hosted by SSP, the ONHS official website was created and developed by the school’s webmasters, in coordination with Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP) faculty. The school web team, led by ONHS teachers Riza E. Quicho and Jermie H. Artuz, worked hand in hand with Marsha Q. Superio, a SWEEP web trainer from Systems Plus College Foundation.
The ONHS official website features the school’s history, mission and vision and also contains information on student organizations, school activities, administration, and academics. The site is made more interesting through the photo gallery and the animated announcement banner in the homepage.
The SSP “Website of the Month” Competition is SSP website’s rewards and recognition program for the SSP-hosted websites. Nominated websites are evaluated based on the content, website design, involvement of teachers and students, and website maintenance.
A “Community Choice Award” is also given to the nominee with the most number of votes earned in the Smart Schools Online Poll. For this month, the Doña Hortencia S. Benedicto National High School website, which earned a total of 135 votes in the online poll conducted from July 15 to August 15, emerged as the most favorite school website. Moalboal National High School website got 34 votes; Catmon National High School, 6; Orion National High School, 4; Ramon Avanceña National High School, 1.
Congratulations to Orion National High School and Doña Hortencia S. Benedicto National High School for a job well done!
