Technological Advances in Education
By Paula Ceracas

The Internet has done miracles for mankind. From communication to business, to academics, entertainment, and almost everything in our everyday lives --- the Internet serves as a rich source of information and tools.

I think one of the best things that the Internet has done to enrich our lives and make it more convenient is improving the quality of our education, especially here in the Philippines. Because of information and communications technology (ICT), students can now experience a more progressive learning environment. Teachers are able to improve their teaching strategies and use audio-visual tools in their teaching because of the Internet. Using the Internet, students can now do their research and homework faster. We just need to type in a few keywords and presto! We’d have the information we need faster than we could say the word “advances.”

On the other hand, it is saddening that some people use the Internet in a destructive, abusive way. When used improperly, technological advances like the Internet can truly spell doom for some people.

We must always remember that the Internet is a powerful tool but it is not a magic wand. Perseverance, determination, and the will to maximize the benefits of the Internet without abusing its potentials are the values that we must possess in order to succeed in using and applying technological advances in our lives.

Thanks to the Internet
By Joresza de Claro

The world is rapidly embracing new developments in technology. New high-end gadgets and devices are now introduced in the market everyday. These inventions affect the lives of people and have somehow changed the priorities and extended the boundaries of the comfort zone of every individual. Indeed, the world is in the computer era where computers play a very important role in the life of every individual, regardless of his age, gender, and culture.

The Internet has become our best “buddy.” It has proven itself to be a very important tool in work, in school, in business and even in church. The Internet serves as the fastest and easiest tool a person could immediately run to in times of emergency and urgency. The Internet has become a necessity.

The World Wide Web is fully loaded with information. It also renders itself as a venue where one can freely express what he or she feels and thinks. The Internet helps users meet not only basic necessities but also their emotional needs. One concrete example of this is the birth of blogs.

We are very fortunate that we belong in this generation and we are experiencing the fruits of innovations which help us in our daily living. How technology makes our lives more productive and convenient! Thanks to the Internet, we also get easier access to quality education, to a brighter future.
