A mother’s joy, a school’s pride

Mark Lester A. Castillo, President of Science Club in our school, embodies my idea of what a role model is.

Kuya Les, as we call him, is well-raised by his mother. His father died when he was three and his dedicated mother strongly faced and bore the responsibilities of raising her three children, with Kuya Les as the youngest of them.

Never forgetting his mother’s sacrifices, Kuya Les always strives to excel in school and make his mother and his school proud. His investigatory project entitled “The affectivity of Wild Yam Extract as Insecticide” recently won third place in the 2008 Division Science Fair held in Puerto Princesa. His knowledge and skills in MS PowerPoint greatly enhanced his presentation, proof that he is one of the talented students here in our school. His academic performance, particularly in our ICT subjects, is outstanding.

Kuya Les is a consistent honor student, a disciplined drum leader of our School’s Percussion Band, and an active member of organizations with environmental concerns (YES-O-YE and Tangay ‘Y ang Laud). He is a member of the Board of Directors of our Laboratory Cooperative, the only student cooperative in Palawan.

Despite his several responsibilities and commitments, Kuya Les still manages to participate in other co-curricular activities. He enjoys designing our mini website for “Tribu,” one of our school’s entries for the Doon Po Sa Amin Learning Challenge.

Kuya Les’ can-do attitude and diligence inspire many CSF students. A smart buddy, an active young achiever with a humble heart, Kuya Les is indeed a mother’s joy and our school’s pride.
