Smart supports young jins in 30th Philippine National Taekwondo championships

[August 24, 2007/ Manila] - Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) continues to help young taekwondo jins realize their dreams of making it big in the Korean martial arts, as it supported the two-day Philippine National Taekwondo Championships held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Now on its 30th year, the annual event carried the slogan, "One with you in Championing the Filipino Yout." Smart was among the institutional sponsors that gathered and fostered the healthy competition among jins ranging from elementary to college.

"Taekwondo is one of the fields where young Filipino athletes could shine globally, and we are glad to help make that happen for them," said Smart president and CEO Napoleon L. Nazareno in his  opening remarks.

"We are proud and happy to see the eagerness and participation of this year's roster of competitors," said Philippine National Taekwondo Team coach Jobet Morales who is also a member of the event's organizing committee.

"It is also encouraging to note the growing number of participants per year as well as the increasing number of supporters," he added.

Morales is now training the RP Taekwondo Team for the Asia Junior Taekwondo Championships slated this year.
