Smart Launches New Location-Based Services
[July 2, 2007/ Manila] - Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART), in partnership with the location-based services of Asian Navigation & Tracking System (ANTS), recently launched the Person Finder Scheduler and Safe Travel. These new services allow users to locate loved ones on a regular basis using a mobile phone.
The Person Finder Scheduler is an enhancement of the existing Person Finder service. With such enhancement, Person Finder users can now receive automatic updates on their loved ones’ location on a fixed schedule.
Just like in the existing Person Finder service, permission protocols are also required in the Person Finder Scheduler. This means that a subscriber can only activate the scheduler only if the person to be tracked has granted prior permission to the tracker subscriber. Successful activation will only happen if the authorization process is completed.
To start using the service, you have to first register your loved ones in Person Finder by texting FIND <name of your loved one> <mobile number> and send to 386 (example: FIND John 09181234567). Once the person being tracked authorizes you, you can now locate him/her anytime.
To start receiving automatic location alerts via Person Finder Scheduler, simply type SKED ON <name of your loved one> <time> <frequency or preferred day of tracking> (example: SKED ON John 9:30 AM daily) and send to 386. Make sure to use the correct time format (hh:mm am/pm) and frequency/day codes (DAILY, MON, TUES, WED, THURS, FRI, SAT, SUN).
Registration to the Person Finder Scheduler is free of charge, while each location alert costs P5.00. Text SKED to 386 for more details on the Person Finder Scheduler.
The new Safe Travel service, on the other hand, is intended to provide you with peace of mind especially when loved ones commute. Subscribers who ride the bus, drive or ride in a PUV or carpool can now easily be monitored while in transit and until they reach their intended destination.
To avail of the service, a subscriber (passenger) must first register his name by texting RIDE REG <name> (example: RIDE REG John) to 386. Afterwards, the sub needs to register those who will receive the location alerts by sending RIDE AUT <cell phone number 1> <cell phone number 2> (example: RIDE AUT 09181234567) to 386.
Now that you’re registered, you can activate the service anytime you ride a taxi or PUV by keying in RIDE ON <PUV name> <plate number> (example: RIDE ON RENO TGY 123) or RIDE ON SchoolBus/friendcar/carpool (example: RIDE ON carpool) and send to 386. With this, the passenger’s exact location together with the private car or PUV’s information will be sent to two of the subscriber’s loved ones.
Safe Travel will automatically locate the subscriber (passenger) every 30 minutes. The service will remain turned on for the next 4 hours. It can also be deactivated any time by the subscriber upon arriving safely in his destination.
Cost of one-hour subscription is P10. Registration is needed in order to use this service. For more info, just text RIDE to 386 (P2.50/text).
