SMART Sets Up Pre-paid Internet Kiosks For Travelers

[April 24, 2007/ Manila] - Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) through its wireless broadband arm, Smart Broadband, Inc. (SBI), has started the roll out of its Internet prepaid kiosks in high-traffic areas.

Designed for travelers, the Smart Bro Prepaid Internet kiosks will enable anyone, especially tourists and businessmen, to keep in touch and correspond via e-mail even while on-the-go.

The kiosks offer high-speed Internet access services. It rides on the nationwide cellular and broadband network of Smart to wirelessly deliver broadband Internet to a personal computer, eliminating the need of a phone line.

“We want to roll out this project in all of the major seaports and airports so we can provide and spread awareness of Internet services to the travelers,” said Luisa Lansigan, SBI sales head.

The first Smart Bro Prepaid Internet kiosk was inaugurated at the Mactan International Airport in Cebu last February. At the Davao International Airport, two Smart Bro kiosks have been set up recently at the ground floor pre-departure check-in area and at the second floor domestic and international pre-departure areas. Travelers may use the kiosks from 8am to 6 pm.

To use the kiosk, simply purchase prepaid loads, which come in denominations of PhP30 (1 hour), PhP50 (2 hours), PhP115 (6 hours) and PhP300 (24 hours). Loads may be purchased from an authorized Smart sales agent stationed near the kiosks.
