PLDT Payphone “Phonetix” launched; Concert proceeds turned over to children’s foundation
PLDT Payphone, UniversiTV host Banda Blowout
[January 9, 2008/ Manila] - PLDT Payphone launched its newest service, “Phonetix,” by hosting a youth concert at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. Together with youth TV channel, UniversiTV, the PLDT Payphone Banda Blowout concert gathered together ten of the country’s best bands for a night of livewire performance.
PLDT Payphone Phonetix is the newest treat for PLDT Payphone users. By simply using the PLDT Reloadable Touch Card on any PLDT Payphones, anyone can get free tickets to exclusive events.
Winning Phonetix promos to get tickets to events is easy. Upon usage of P60 worth of load on PLDT Payphones, the cardholder can already claim free tickets at designated Phonetix redemption areas.

Performing for the crowd during the night were top bands, including Hale, Sugarfree, Rocksteddy, Barbie Almalbis, Up Dharma Down, Spaceflower, and Sinosikat. Special appearances by TV celebrities Donita Rose and Alyssa Alano drew more cheers from the crowd composed mostly of students from different colleges and universities.
In between band performances, UniversiTV hosts Tracy Abad, Michelle Katigbak, Aaron Mempin, Zye Parsad, Joaqui Tupas, Paolo Pozon, and Jordan Escusa gave the audience a chance to win SMART gift packs simply by answering questions about the PLDT Payphone service.
To drum up excitement for the Banda Blowout concert, UniversiTV made a tour of twenty schools around Manila to encourage students to use PLDT Payphone’s Phonetix to get access to watch the concert. Among the schools visited by UniversiTV were Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Mapua Institute of Technology, Far Eastern University, Olivarez College, National University, Asia Pacific College, Saint Clare College, Central Colleges of the Philppines, San Beda College, De la Salle University, AMA University, Philippine Women’s University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, University of Perpetual Help, Miriam College, St. Scholastica’s College, and the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Manila and Los Baños.
In addition to the launch of the PLDT Payphone Phonetix service, proceeds from the PLDT Payphone Banda Blowout concert was turned over to Lunduyan Foundation, a charitable institution that provides care and shelter to children affected by HIV/AIDS. On hand to receive the check donation from Smart Global Access Group Head Tina Mariano was Lunduyan Foundation Executive Director Nelia Dychingco-Sevidal.
