Smart International Voice Text now in more countries
[September 20, 2007/ Manila] - More Filipinos overseas will be able to hear the voices of loved ones now that Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) is offering International Voice Text in more countries.
The innovative service from Smart and mobile roaming solutions leader Roamware Inc. is now available to subscribers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, India, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
Introduced last February, Smart International Voice Text was made available to all Smart prepaid and postpaid subscribers who wanted to send a voice clip to relatives and friends in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In May, coverage was expanded to include Hong Kong via 1528 Smart.
"Smart is expanding International Voice Text coverage in more countries because its affordability makes it attractive to Filipinos here and abroad who will spend to keep connected, but who also want the best value for their money. Our investment in international services like voice text is precisely what makes us the Filipinos' biggest mobile network to the world," said Danilo J. Mojica, head of Smart's wireless consumer division.
For only P15, a Smart subscriber can already send a voice clip via SMS to family members and friends in countries covered by the service abroad.
To send an international voice text, Smart subscribers simply dial *8900 then the recipient’s 8-digit mobile number (e.g. *890016045678999). The subscriber will then be prompted to record a 30-second message. When the subscriber ends the call, the recipient overseas automatically gets a text message that he or she has been sent an international voice text. When the recipient listens to the international voice text, the subscriber or sender is automatically alerted via SMS that the message has been retrieved.
Smart International Voice Text allows the recipient to listen to the message not just once, but several times. Retrieval of voice messages cost P2.50 on the first try and P1 per retrieval thereafter.
Smart International Voice Text is available to all Smart prepaid and postpaid non-roaming subscribers.@
