Employee Volunteerism
In December 2003, Smart came out with an employee volunteerism program dubbed S.E.R.V.I.C.E. – short for Smart Employees Responding as Volunteers in the Community and Environment.
S.E.R.V.I.C.E. is an important component of the Smart Communities Program, providing Smart employees an array of choices in rendering community service.
Under the Smart Communities Program, S.E.R.V.I.C.E. projects include tree planting activities, reading tutorials for the Adopt-a-School project, tree planting, blood donation, and Red Cross activities. These activities cultivate a culture of sharing and service for the community. Every year, employees are entitled to one-day community service leave. Majority of the employees also participate in their own time.
