Employee Volunteerism

Training

Under SMART’s employee volunteerism program S.E.R.V.I.C.E. or SMART Employees Responding as Volunteers in the Community and Environment,  employee volunteers are trained by the PNRC in Basic Disaster Management and Basic First Aid to equip them to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Blood Donation

Getting blood donors is an annual nationwide activity conducted by SMART employee-volunteers in partnership with the local chapters of PNRC. In 2006, Smart started involving counterparts in the PLDT Group as well as partner schools under the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP) to get more involved in blood donation.

First Aid Stations

The skills acquired by employee-volunteers are put to the test while manning First Aid stations set up in partnership with the PNRC. Since 2004, Cebu-based employee-volunteers have been manning First Aid Stations along the competition route of the Sinulog Grand Parade. In 2006, similar stations were also set up during the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo and during the Ati-Atihan Festival in Aklan. These have been yearly activities since then.
