Atty. Rene G. Bañez

Head, Administration and Materials Management Division

Atty. Rene G. Bañez is currently the head of Administration and Materials Management for both PLDT and Smart. Prior to this position he served as Chief Governance Officer for PLDT from 2004 to 2007 and as Senior Vice President for Support Services and Tax Management.

Prior to joining PLDT, Bañez was a Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal revenue. He also served in various executive positions for Metro Pacific Management Services, Inc. and Isla Lipana & Co./ PriceWaterhouseCoopers.  He also currently teaches various subjects in Taxation and Corporate Governance at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law and Business.

Bañez received his Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from Ateneo de Manila University. He has published various papers on the Philippines Tax System and Corporate Governance in the Philippines.
