• Smart gained 58% market share in terms of subscriber base and became the most profitable telecommunications firm under Polly Nazareno’s leadership as President and CEO since January 2000.

• He played a vital role in restructuring the debts of Smart mobile phone service subsidiary Pilipino Telephone Corp. (Piltel) back in 2001, which was the largest debt restructuring in the country that was done on a consensual basis.

Occupying senior management to top-level executive positions, Napoleon L. Nazareno’s exposure cuts across a broad range of industries, namely: packaging, bottling, petrochemicals, real estate and in the last decade, telecommunications and information technology.

Nazareno was voted Corporate Executive of the Year in the Philippines for both 2004 and 2005 at the Best Managed Companies and Corporate Governance Polls conducted by Asiamoney, one of Asia’s most influential magazines.

In November 2004, Nazareno was appointed by Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, as Private Sector Representative of the Public-Private Sector Task Force for the Development of Globally Competitive Philippine Service Industries.
